Second AMAA Screening Okays 65 Films

Screeners
The 2014 African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) has just completed its second screening process that saw just 65 African films qualify for the next stage of screening.
The selected 65 were part of almost
500 feature films from African filmmakers submitted for consideration. The submitted works excluded documentary, short and Diaspora films.
The final nomination list would be even shorter than the selected 65.
As part of efforts to ensure that deserving films are honoured, a carefully selected board of screeners from Africa started the screening process early this month to weed out less technically inclined films.
Some of the screeners include Dr Ambrose Uchenunu, Dr Adebola Ademeso, Bola Aduwo, Augusta Okon, Dorothy Effium, among others  and Ghanaian journalist, Francis Addo of Daily Guide and NEWS-ONE.
On Monday February 24, the second level of screening came to a successful end after a rigorous process.
A third level of screeners will finally cut down that figure to pave way for AMAA jury to start its work on the remaining number of films for nomination.
The 2014 edition of the African Movie Academy Awards is scheduled to come off in Bayelsa, Nigeria. It is the 10th anniversary celebration of the award ceremony and it is expected to come off in grand style.
