AMAA Award Closes Entries

Wednesday January 15 was the deadline for submission of works for the 10th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs).
Organizers had earlier invited filmmakers to enter their feature, short and documentary works for consideration for the prestigious 2014 AMAAs. Nominations would be announced
in the first week of March.
The 2014 edition of AMAAs will re-emphasize its objective of honouring and celebrating the best in the art of filmmaking and the professionals who make the industry the pride of Africa.
It is unclear which films made it from Ghana but works eligible for entries include feature length films, shorts and documentaries produced, premiered or released between May 2012 and December 2013.
Features may not exceed 120 minutes and shorts not longer than 40 minutes.

JJ Bunny’s High Budget Gambian Movie Hits Ghana

Actress JJ Bunny’s Gambian movie project titled ‘Groom’s Bride’, featuring some award-winning Gambian actors and Ghanaian lead actors Majid Michel and Jackie Appiah, will hit Ghanaian silver-screens this month.  The movie will be premiered at the Silverbird Cinema in Accra on June 29 via a grand red carpet ceremony, which is anticipated to bring visiting actors to town. The movie was directed by Frank Rajah for Abdul Salam’s Venus Film Production. The movie, shot last year, is Venus’ first movie in Gambia. Venus is yet to answer critics why the production was done in Gambia.   JJ Bunny came down from her Houston base last November for the movie in Ghana. After the movie, she travelled to Ghana. She has since remained in Africa as she has been bombarded with movie scripts. She has been described as a Nollywood US A-List actress residing in the United States.
