Yvonne Nelson Becomes First Ghanaian Actress To Get Twitter Verification

Popular Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson has taken her popularity to the next level as her @yvonnenelsongh account on social network, Twitter was over the weekend verified.
One’s twitter account is verified with a blue verified badge on the Twitter profile. 
Verification is currently used to establish authenticity of identities on Twitter. The verified badge helps users to discover high-quality sources of information and trust that a legitimate source is authoring the account’s Tweets.
Unconfirmed reports claimed that twitter account holders with large followers get verified.
Yvonne Nelson is the first in Ghana’s movie industry to have her account verified. As of yesterday, she had 95333 followers.
The twitter verification follows the premiere of her latest movie, ‘House of Gold’, and textile giant Printex honouring her for her contribution to Africa’s film industry.    
But Yvonne wasn’t the only Ghanaian to get verification last weekend. R2Bees (@r2bees), E.L. (@ELrepGH), D-Black (@DBLACKGH) and some members of his Black Avenue Music (BAM) were among some of the celebrities who got their accounts authenticated by Twitter.
