Jay Ghartey Goes Azonto

Ghanaian-American artiste Jay Ghartey has netted a brace – ahead of the official release of his upcoming second album.
The ‘My Lady’ hit-maker is out with yet another promising hit banger, this time a typical up-tempo Azonto number. It is titled ‘Somebody.’
Not only that, he has also dropped what some music pundits have touted as “a beautiful love song,” titled ‘Love You Better.’ The song features the fascinating songbird Juliana Kanyomozi, from Uganda.
Juliana is celebrated in many circles as perhaps the East African country’s most decorated contemporary international artiste with many awards and hit songs – such as ‘Say Yes’ and ‘Nabikoowa’ – to her credit. She recently appeared on the remix of Jay’s ‘My Lady.’
Interesting as it may seem, the ‘Somebody’ song promises a lot potential to become one of Jay Ghartey’s greatest records.

In an interview with the artiste over why he has taken to Azonto, he explained he did the song for two main reasons.
“Although I’m not known for Azonto, I’ve observed a lot of my fans, both in Ghana and the rest of the world, are now hooked on to Azonto, so I asked myself, ‘Why shouldn’t I do one for them?’,” he said.
But regarding the second reason, Jay Ghartey said he recorded the song because of the recent branding of Azonto as Nigerian by American artiste Chris Brown on BET.
“It is an undeniable fact that Azonto originated from Ghana and not Nigeria, so when Chris Brown made that mistake on BET, I saw the need to bring some of my Azonto tracks. So this is the first to come out,” he added.
Jay announced that as part of plans to promote the songs, especially ‘Love You Better,’ Juliana would arrive in Ghana “to inspect my youth foundation, record songs and do various shows and interviews.
“I think this will also help unite both countries – Ghana and Uganda,” he said, calling on his fans and every music-lover to expect the release of his much-anticipated second album later in the year.
