Golden
Icons Academy Movie Awards (GIAMA) has opened entries for the 2013 edition of
the annual award ceremony.
The
entries would remain open from April 6 to
May 31, 2013.
GIAMA
is an annual Award Ceremony designed to celebrate the very best of African
entertainment and rich culture through Filmography.
Deadline for all official screen credit
forms must be submitted to the GIAMA organization by Friday June 31, 2013 and
works for GIAMA Awards consideration may not be withdrawn after Friday June 28,
2013, according to a release issued over the weekend.
It said eligible entries must be a
feature length (defined as over 60 minutes running time) and must have been
shot or released between January 2012 and May 2013.
Filmmakers and participants
interested in being considered for the 2013 GIAMA nominations must be residents
of any African country, or an African descendant living in the Diaspora.
GIAMA
also serves as a means to promote love, unity and harmony amongst Actors,
Directors, Producers, Script-Writers, and Executive Producers of different
backgrounds and cultures; and ultimately expose and promote the best of African
acts in the United States, and the Diaspora at large.
GIAMA’s
concept is based on rewarding excellence and it is designed to resonate with
African movie lovers in the Diaspora, especially in the United States and
Canada as well as lovers of African movies throughout the world.
GIAMA
has said its primary focus is to reward outstanding Films produced in Africa,
or by Africans in the Diaspora.
The
2012 edition of the award ceremony was hosted by Nollywood’s Jim Iyke and
attended by a lot of African actors including Ghana’s Majid Michel and Van
Vicker.
