Lydia Forson, Ama K, Others Congratulate Yvonne Okoro

Ghanaian movie industry stakeholders have congratulated actress Yvonne Okoro on her Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) nominations.
Actresses Lydia Forson, Ama K Abebrese are among a host of stakeholders who made their congratulation messages public.
Beautiful Yvonne is the only Ghanaian actor to be nominated for this year’s AMAAs.

Her self-produced movie, ‘The Contract’, directed by Shirley Frimpong Manson, had six nominations in the following categories: the ‘AMAA 2013 Prize For Best Director’, ‘AMAA 2013 Prize For Best Actress In A Leading Role’, ‘AMAA 2013 Prize For Best Actor In A Leading Role’, ‘AMAA 2013 Prize For Achievement In Screenplay’, ‘AMAA 2013 Prize For Achievement In Editing’ and ‘AMAA 2013 Prize For Achievement In Production Design.’
Lydia Forson, who witnessed the AMAA nomination party in Malawi, last Friday, tweeted at Yvonne, “Congratulations to @yvonneokoro The Contract had 6 nominations including Best Actor and Actress in a Lead role and Best Director!”
 “Kudos to my girl, @yvonneokoro; 6 (six) nominations at AMAA And it’s only her first production...ContractIsTheISh woohoooooo,” popular TV anchor Nana Aba Anamoah also tweeted.
The likes of Amanda Jissih, Juliet Ibrahim, Majid Michel, Prince David Osei, Sandra Ankobiah, D Black, and Alexis Ntsiakoh, host of Today’s Woman, among others, have all congratulated the actress for making Ghana proud.
It would have been a no-show affair for Ghana’s movie industry at this year’s AMAAs had it not been for Yvonne’s ‘Contract’ and a short film titled, ‘Kwaku Ananse’. ‘Kwaku Ananse’ had one nomination in Best Short film category.

JJ Bunny’s High Budget Gambian Movie Hits Ghana

Actress JJ Bunny’s Gambian movie project titled ‘Groom’s Bride’, featuring some award-winning Gambian actors and Ghanaian lead actors Majid Michel and Jackie Appiah, will hit Ghanaian silver-screens this month.  The movie will be premiered at the Silverbird Cinema in Accra on June 29 via a grand red carpet ceremony, which is anticipated to bring visiting actors to town.
