Popular
Ghanaian songstresses Efya Awindor and Irene Logan posed for NEWS-ONE cameras
for the first time since they parted ways as a duo.
Close
sources said the talented songstresses were still die hard friends, despite
speculations that things might have turned bitter between them since they split
years ago.
The
two met through Charterhouse’s Stars of the Future contest where Irene emerged
the winner and Jane came in third. Prior to the show, they were solo artistes.
However,
after the reality show, they decided to come together to form the group, Irene & Jane and had thrilling
experiences working together.
They
caused a stir on the music scene with their ‘Unveiled’ album and ‘Heat It
Up’ single.
Their
style of music was unique with a large influence from Western genres.
The
group had interesting songs as ‘Heat It
Up’, ‘Odo kai’, ‘Baby’, ‘Ding dong’, ‘Girl
power’, ‘Don’t Wanna Be Lonely’, ‘Don’t Give Up’, ‘Rivers’, and ‘Always’.
They
won the Best Female Vocal Performance award in the 2008 Ghana Music Awards.
They were also nominated for the 2008 Kora Award and Channel O Music Video
Award.
The
two ladies decided to split after years together.
Recently,
there were reports that the two were planning to do a collaboration under the
name, Irene and Jane; an indication that they are still good friends.
NEWS-ONE has confirmed
that Irene and Jane, now called Efya, are indeed good pals.
Last
weekend, the two were in Nigeria together with a number of Ghanaian celebrities
as part of the premiere of ‘Single & Married’, a movie produced by Yvonne
Nelson.
Efya
also acted in the movie and Irene was there to offer her support.
It
was indeed interesting to see how the two related to each other during the
trip. They were actually each other’s keeper. They chatted together and posed
for the cameras.
