Miss Teen Ghana Winner Embarks On Project

The 2011 winner of Miss Teen Ghana, Hamida Yakubu, has donated a set of school uniforms to pupils of Edinso Primary School in Akim Oda of the Brim South District.
The donation forms part of her educational project she is embarking on after winning the first edition of the teen pageant in Ghana.
At a grand durbar attended by virtually the entire community, organizers of the pageant, Nas Media Consult and a few media personnel, Hamida Yakubu donated a set of school uniforms to over 70 pupils in primary school.
The Miss Teen winner also promised the pupils other stationeries to help reduce the burden of parents and help motivate children to stay in the classrooms.
Chief of Edinso, Nana S.T Larnyo, and elders of Edinso thanked the beauty queen for selecting the community out of the many in the country for the project.
They enumerated some problems facing the community, saying their source of water from the Edin River was not the best for both washing and drinking.
The chief and his elders then took the team to the riverside to see the water which looked muddy and had a sour taste. Also, the team was taken to a 56-year-old, 28ft 11inches Bridge which has seen little maintenance after it was built.
The chief pleaded with the beauty queen to help lobby for a bore hole for the community and adequate teaching staff for their school while he advised parents to use the achievement of the 17-year-old beauty queen as a guide to push for the best for their wards in education rather than farming and buying materials items. Miss Yakubu made known her desire to help seek sponsorship for the provision of a bore hole to provide potable water to the community while she take the world stage for the Miss Teen World pageant later in the month. Her donation and community service will form part of her taped project to be presented for the beauty with a purpose segment of the world pageant.
