Mercy Johnson Takes Over TV Screens In Ghana

Mercy Johnson
It appears that for the past months, most of the Nollywood movies shown on local Ghanaian television stations have actress Mercy Johnson playing a major role in them and she seems to be getting a lot of attention in the country.
A lot of her movies are being shown on a number of TV channels in Ghana but it is premature to say she has become Africa’s hottest because it is not clear what is happening in other countries.
What is happening in Ghana may not necessarily be an indication that Mercy has done more movies in Nollywood but it could be that she has endeared herself to Ghanaian movie fans.
Among some of her movies that are gaining prominence on Ghanaian TV screens include ‘Room Service’, ‘White Hunters’, ‘Royal Fight’ and ‘Return of White Hunters’.

Previously, it was a tight race between Mercy John and Tonto Dikeh after Ini Edo dropped. But Mercy is arguably leading now. Omotola Ekeinde Jalade and Patience Ozokwor movies are also doing well.
Mercy is touted as one of Nollywood’s most successful actresses.
She made her debut in 2004 in the movie, ‘The Maid.’ She has since featured in a lot of movies.
She is known for playing any kind of role from village girl to prostitute and that has been her driving force.
She was last in the news in Ghana over a first-time role with top actress Yvonne Okoro. But that didn’t happen because the production house involved couldn’t meet Yvonne Okoro’s demands.
