It was all excitement as young models- both female and male models- took to the runway to show what they had got, adorned in all manner of unique designs provided by some of the best designers in Accra.
After a thrilling evening of catwalk, talent display, dance steps and music performances, 18-year-old Araba Biesema Crentsil was the female model who won the heart of the judges to become the female winner.
It was not a surprise to many who knew her because she had been training at the Exopa School for months. She won the audience’s attention with her catwalk, while 19-year-old Ebenezer Ojo won the male category.
The two winners have also made it to the grand finale in December, where all winners of the monthly editions will compete for the ultimate prize.
In the female category, first runner-up was 18-year-old Nigerian Queen Falilat Abdullahi and second runner-up was Lady Pearl Abbey Mensah, an 18-year-old former student of Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School.
Twenty-two-year-old Frank Affizie, a former student of Bishop Herman College, was first runner-up in the male category while 24- year-old Ebenezer Acquah was the second runner-up.
The young upcoming models tried their best, though some struggled with the catwalk, in front of a large audience and rolling cameras for the first time
Also on display were beautiful designs from some of Ghana’s young designers; Vindiba Daplah, Martha, Lydia and Ruth.
It was obvious that Ghana had some unique talents in the fashion designing industry.
There were musical performances by some upcoming Ghanaian musicians such as Nana Akofena, Lion, Double J and an interesting cultural dance by Shidaa Cultural Troup.
The winners of the contest will have a contract with the Exopa Modeling Agency and other juicy packages including cover page articles in NEWS-ONE and spotlight exposure on Metro TV’s Allo TiGo.
The event will continue every last Saturday of the month at the Exopa Burg where the event always takes place.
This month’s began with a minute’s silence in memory of the late president of Ghana, John Evans Atta Mills. After that, the contestants hit the runway in their African wear. There were some amazing outfits by Vindiba shapes.
That was followed by male models who also displayed some good designs. It was interesting how some of the male models went about the catwalk.
Nana Akofena’s performance introduced the bikini segment. At this stage, every wannabe model that hit the runway was welcomed with applauds till the female models were done with that section. The applauds became louder when the male models took their turn. At the end of the show, the best persons won.
