Sefa Kayi in UK for GUBA Award

One of Ghana’s most sought-after broadcasters, Kwami Sefa Kayi, is set to travel to London, United Kingdom, to receive an award at the second annual United Kingdom-Based Achievement Awards scheduled to be held at London’s plush Park Plaza Riverbank, on November 6, 2011.
“It’s humbling and exciting at the same time...a very well deserved shot of adrenalin for me...in a short time GUBA has firmly taken its place amongst the prestigious and envious, and I am excited to be a winner,” Sefa Kayi admitted.
Kwami, a polyglot host of Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ Morning Show, earned the accolade due to his immense contribution to the media industry in Ghana and beyond.
Since 2000, the 41-year-old father of four has been the host of the most-listened-to morning show, ‘Kokrokoo’, on Accra-based Peace FM due to his high sense of neutrality during discussions on various issues including the military (he aspired to be a military officer just like his late father), his favourite local soccer side, Hearts of Oak, domestic violence, as well as children’s welfare.
Affectionately called ‘Chairman’, the versatile host has chalked several successes as his prgramme won the CIMG Radio Programme of the Year Award in 2004 and 2007, and the Radio and Television Programme Award (RTPA) in 2010 where he also scooped the Morning Show Host of the Year (Radio).
At the 20th Arts Critics and Reviewers Association of Ghana Awards in 2008, the bald-headed Sefa was adjudged the Best Male Radio Personality. Former President John Agyekum Kufuor also conferred on him the Order of the Star of Volta for his contribution to national development through media work.
Born on June 20 to the late Col. Albert Okai and Akosua Safoa Okai, he is married to Awuradwoa aka Raj and has four children; three girls and a boy.
Kwami, a product of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, worships at the Hope Presbyterian Church at Sakumono, Tema.
A keen player of tennis and a football fan of Hearts of Oak, Kpando Heart of Lions and Chelsea FC (UK), he loves songs by Bob Marley and Amakye Dede, as well as documentaries, TV quiz shows and news features.
His favourite movie is ‘A Few Good Men’.
