Lydia Forson Makes History At Africa’s Oscar

Lydia Forson on stage   Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson made her fourth appearance at the prestigious African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in Nigeria over the weekend as one of the special guests of the glamorous event described as Africa’s Oscar. She also made up the list of top Africans who were on stage to present awards. The bubbly actress presented an award for Best Young/Upcoming Actor, which was won by Nigeria’s Ivie Okujaye for her role in the movie ‘Alero’s Symphony’. Lydia has distinguished herself in Ghana’s movie industry as not just a good actress worth celebrating but also a woman of substance and dignity. Aki's Wedding Ring Display At AMAA Awards

It is no longer news that popular Nigerian actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, is married. However, his teeming fans will definitely like to know what is happening in his young marital life. The diminutive award winning actor was one of the numerous Nollywood guns that were on the African Movie Academy Awards’ red carpet in Lagos, Nigeria. He popped up on the red carpet in a pair of grey-coloured trousers, a white shirt and a black blazer which matched with his black shoes. He completed the look with a grey cap. Hollywood’s Rockmond Dunbar Traces Root To Nigeria

Perhaps, it is one of the interesting revelations to have come out of this year’s Africa Movie Academy awards (AMAA) in Nigeria as popular Hollywood actor Rockmond Dunbar has declared he is a Nigerian. The popular actor was among some of the top names in Hollywood at the AMAA on Sunday. Lynn Whitfield, Maya Gilbert, and Morris Chestnut were also there. That was Dunbar’s second time in Nigeria and he came with his mother. Majid Defends American Actor Morris Chesnutt In Nigeria

Ghanaian actor Majid Michel has defended American actor Morris Chestnut over comments the latter had allegedly made about the Eko Hotel in Lagos, where they had been lodging. Morris and Hollywood pals Rockmond Dunbar, Jimmy Jean Louis, Lynn Whitfield, and actress Maya Gilbert arrived in Nigeria on the invitation of African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). Not long after, local newspaper reports said that Morris refused his Eko Hotel and Suites accommodation, describing it as ‘crappy’ and expressing displeasure at the standard of the hotel. He was quoted as having said “…it is crappy…I am displeased at the standard of the hotel”. White Carpet Fashion Show Saturday

The much-anticipated white carpet modelling event in Ghana is set to take off tomorrow, April 21 at the Exopa Burg behind the Accra International Trade Centre. It is one of a kind and expected to attract a lot of fashion designers and showbiz industry players. Dubbed ‘The White Carpet Fashion 2012’, it is a show to revolutionize Ghana’s fashion industry and focus more on sale of African-made clothing in Ghana. Yvonne Nelson, David Osei & John Dumelo Win Africa Entertainment Awards

Popular Ghanaian movie stars Yvonne Nelson, Prince David Osei and John Dumelo were the toast of this year’s Africa Entertainment Awards held in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, over the weekend. The three Ghanaian stars made their country proud by picking three top awards at the ceremony organized by Malaysia top events company, Orange Box, to honour Africans doing remarkably well in the entertainment industry. Awards were given to African music and movie icons of international repute. Ghana’s sexy actress Yvonne Nelson, though could not make it to the award ceremony, was adjudged best actress Africa while top actors Prince David Osei and John Dumelo took best African Actor in international movie and best actor Africa respectively, beating other top actors from Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya and South Africa.
