Early signals indicate that this year’s edition of the annual Ghana Movie Awards may not come off on its traditional December 25 date but rather on December 30.
Though Ghollywood Production (GP) Limited, organizers of the event are yet to officially announce a new date, NEW
S-ONE source says this year's award ceremony will take place on December 30 instead of the usual December 25 date.
“Organisers are looking at pushing the award's date to December 30. It would have been a good thing for them to be consistent with the date but organisers have lost that bid. However, it is within the December timeframe.
“Perhaps with this, they won't face any stiff competition from other event companies with the new date.”
Last year, the award was intended to come off on December 2, ahead of the General Elections on December 7, with the view that the elections may ran into a run-off which could likely slow things down.
But organizers defied the odds to stage the event on December 25.
Real reasons are yet to be given for the new changes by organizers but the source said other top event companies have picked the same date to stage their shows and also the “venue has been booked.”
