She beat 12 other young models in what
could be described as competitive night of catwalk, good confidence, posture
and talent display. A lot of fashion enthusiasts including popular Ghanaian
actress Gloria Sarfo were there.
Maame had a tough time outshining the other
contestants at the preliminary stage of the night. Her catwalk and posture were
as normal as that of the other contestants, despite her good confidence.
However, she thrilled and got the judges
on her side with her unique Salsa performance. Her talent display with a male
assistant was tagged as the best talent performance since the inception of the
Exopa New Faces Contest.
Closely behind Maame Serwaa were 22-year-old
student of the Lister Professional Institute, Barbara McCarthy and Alexandra
Okyere, a 19-year-old former student of the Harvard Senior High School who were
adjudged first and second runners-up respectively.
The March contest, which was held at the
Exopa Burg behind the Trade Fair on Saturday March 30, coincided with this year’s
Easter celebrations. Upcoming musicians used the platform to enhance their
stagecraft and dish out some exciting performances.
MC Joel from TV3 also drove the show to
a near perfection with his jokes while fashion and modeling enthusiasts also
assimilated the runway excitement from the comfort of their seats.
Also on the runway were wannabe male
models who battled for the best catwalk, posture, confidence and talent.
At the end, Victor Appiah, a 24-year-old
student of Lynda Online Training Institute, emerged the winner. Twenty-one-year-old
Stephen Ahenkora of the University of Ghana and 19-year-old Tairu Oluwatobi of
Ghana Technology University College were adjudged first and second runners-up
respectively.
Winners will be enjoying a contract with
the Exopa Modeling Agency as well as other souvenirs.
The Exopa New Faces contest will bounce
back on the last Saturday in April.
