Nigeria Entertainment Awards Shows Bias To Its Ghanaian Nominees, Majid Michel, John Dumelo, Ama K. Abebrese & Yvonne Okoro

A few hours to the official opening of the much talked about Nigeria Entertainment Award (NEA), signals picked from Ghana’s entertainment industry suggest that some Ghanaian nominees for the event are yet to be officially informed about their nominations, NEWS-ONE has gathered.
The NEA, which is in its seventh year, honours African entertainers. It is scheduled to take place via a grand red carpet ceremony in New York from August 31 to September 2.
Ghana’s fastest rapper Sarkodie was nominated for Pan African Artiste Or Group Of The Year category, while Ghana’s male actors Van Vicker, Majid Michel, John Dumelo and Chris Attoh were nominated for Pan African Actor. Beautiful actresses Ama K. Aberese (‘Ties That Bind’), Yvonne Okoro (‘Single Six’) and Juliet Ibrahim (‘Crazy Scandal’) are in the Pan African Actress category
NEWS-ONE is yet to authenticate reports that some Ghanaian nominees have touched down in New York for the awards ceremony which takes place tonight.
Some of the nominees are still in Ghana as they do not know they have been nominated.
Close sources told NEWS-ONE that Majid Michel, Africa’s Best Actor at the last African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), Ama K. Abebrese, an AMAA Best Actress, and John Dumelo didn’t know they were nominated. They are yet to be informed.

The awards are entirely based on fan votes via online and SMS, hence whoever gets more votes will win. Not informing the stars to campaign by encouraging their fan base to vote for them, automatically kicks them out of the race.
On the part of Yvonne Okoro, she was officially informed after she complained about the award’s credibility and how things should be done professionally on social network, twitter.
Interestingly, she was also not invited for the main award ceremony in New York this weekend.
The interesting development is raising questions in a section of Ghana’s entertainment industry about the credibility of the awards.
