Ghanaian actress Nana Ama McBrown has confirmed
that she is into movie production, aside acting and says her upcoming movie is
not the first she has produced.
She
said she has already produced six award-winning movies and her upcoming movie
is her seventh production.
“It’s
true I'm on set now but it wasn’t my first production. It was my seventh
production,” she told NEWS-ONE when she
was contacted on Tuesday.
Nana
Ama McBrown’s first self-produced movie was ‘Alicia’ in 2006. She wrote the script, directed and acted in it as
well. It featured some of Ghana’s top actors including Emmanual Amah and Omar
Sheriff Captan.
Her
second produced movie was ‘Love Comes
Back’ with Jackie Appiah and Omar Sheriff, while her third was a Twi movie
titled ‘Dee Adea Wonno’.
She also produced ‘Asofo Awarie’ starring Mercy Asiedu and Matilda Asare, Obiyaa and
Suzzy.
It
means Nana Ama has been producing for a long time but on the quiet.
NEWS-ONE
sources said last week that she was getting ready to venture into movie
production as a producer, years after gracing TV screens as an actress. But
Nana said she had been producing for a long time on the quiet.
Nana
Ama is currently one of Ghana’s most talented and respected veteran actresses
of long standing. She is a bridge between veteran actresses and new face
actress as well as Twi and English movies. She as a result operates within any
of the mentioned categories and has acted in over 100 Ghanaian movies.
Among
them are ‘He Is Mine’, ‘Madam Joan’,
‘Nsem Pii’, ‘Kumasi Yonko’, ‘Odo Ntira,’ ‘Love Comes Back’, ‘Kae Dabi’,
‘Asoreba’, ‘Wo nyame som po ni’, ‘Alicia’, ‘Fools Paradise’, ‘Dea Ade Wo No’,
‘Girl Connection’, ‘Playboy’, ‘My Own Mother’ and ‘Friday Night’.
