Trigmatic |
Ghanaian rapper Trigmatic has denied earlier reports that he quit cosmopolitan radio YFM, where he previously worked as a presenter.
According to him, he was just on break, contradicting earlier alleged reports that he packed his CDs and left the station because of his issues with salary increment.
“I’m probably the only person who is on a long break at YFM. I will be back,” he said on the Late Night Celebrity Show on eTV, an affiliate of YFM under Global Media Alliance.
Earlier reports also claimed that Trigmatic had decided to concentrate on his music career that’s why he quit YFM.
The exit of the rapper, who won rapper of the year award at the last MTN Ghana Music Awards, followed that of then station manager of YFM, George Brun.
At the time, Trigmatic’s management painted a different picture of the resignation claim, saying he did not really resign.
According to then head of Trigmatic’s management, Godfred Bosumtwe, who parted ways with Trigmatic, the rapper’s work at YFM as a presenter was conflicting with his career as a musician.
He said Trigmatic was due for a tour and he couldn’t combine both jobs so he needed to let go of the radio job for some time. He added that he had a discussion with the management of YFM and they came to an agreement that Trigmatic should be allowed to go, but he could return to post after 6 months, if he was done with everything.
Born Enoch Nana Yaw Agyei, Trigmatic promised a breakthrough into Ghana’s music scene with the album ‘Permanent Stains.’ Fortunately, he made it as he has become a household name in Ghana’s music industry.
He released his first hip-hop street album in 2007 and called it ‘Stain On The Cross’. The album made waves among the hip-hop community in and outside Ghana. ‘Permanent Stain’ was his second album. Before ‘Permanent Stains’ came out, he first released the single ‘My Life’ which enjoyed enormous airplay on most radio stations.
In Sparrow Production’s movie ‘Checkmate’, two of his songs, ‘My Life’ and ‘Move To The Centre’, were used as soundtracks.
As a professional singer, Trigmatic has been around for over 7 years and has worked with a lot of artistes including Tinny and Reggie Rockstone.
Trigmatic pursued a degree course in Marketing at Central University College and is also a database administration certificate holder from NIIT, and a marketing graduate from the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS).
