Among the outdoored prizes were a  Kia car for the winner, Plasma TV for 1st runner-up and Home Theatre for the 2nd runner-up.
Miss Ghallywood is one of the latest pageants to hit Ghana’s movie industry. It is a beauty pageant for actresses.
“It is an event designed to celebrate Ghanaian movie actors/actresses, appreciating the fans who patronise their movies, discover and make new movie stars and celebrities,” organizers said.
It will serve as a platform for wannabe actors and those who hardly get opportunity to play lead roles in movies to exhibit their talent.
“We want to discover new actresses. It is not just for beauty pageant, we are discovering new actresses. So once we are in Ghana, we named it Ghallywood,” Mark Collins, popularly known in the movie circles as Mr. China, one of the coordinators of the event.
Mr. China is a Nollywood movie producer and director of over 200 movies. He has also organized Miss Nollywood in the past. Miss Ghallywood is his initiative and backed by some Ghanaian actors as Ekow Smith Asante and Vivian Achor.
Miss Ghallywood will begin with an audition in Kumasi at Paparazi Hotel on November 19 and in Accra at the Chibert Plaza, off the Spintex Road on November 26. The event itself will take place in December.
There is no age limit for this show and contestants must be actresses or must know how to act. Also, contestants must be Ghanaians with good looks, attitude, good diction and other qualities of actresses.
The event will be in two segments. There will be a modeling part where contestants will be taken through normal beauty pageant routines. The second stage will be the talent hunt where contestants will be given scripts to act on stage.
That will be the most important of the show as contestant will be expected to up their game for the top three positions.
Beside the Kia car for the main winner, Miss Ghallywood, she will get lead roles in movies in Nigeria and Ghana. She will be taken to film festivals in Nigeria, given modeling jobs, one year bragging rights and management contract.
“If we are not shooting any movie we will make sure that push you into other productions as part of your reign as a queen,” Mr. China added.
