Vice President John Dramani Mahama is expected to grace the prestigious edition of the annual Ghana-United Kingdom-Based Achievement (GUBA) Awards event scheduled to be held on November 6, 2011, at the Park Plaza Riverbank London, 18 Albert Embankment, London SE1 7TJ.
The Vice President’s presence will bolster the string of public figures and noteworthy guests billed to attend the event which attracts Ghanaian industry movers and shakers abroad.
This year, the spectacular event, a celebration of achievement within the Ghanaian and African community in the UK, will honour 21 individuals and businesses that have made an outstanding impact during the period July 2010 to July 2011, in the industries of commerce, the professional sector, sports and entertainment.
Tullow Oil, Lady Gifty Tetteh, Jollof Pot, DJ Abrantee, Black Stars’ Asamoah Gyan and Emmanuel Frimpong, Ghana-based Peace FM’s Kwami Sefa Kayi, BBC’s Ibrahim Sannie Daara and Lord Paul Boateng are amongst the nominees of this year’s event.
As part of this year’s 100 years of worldwide cocoa trade, Samuel Awuni also seeks to win the Best Ghanaian Farmer Award as the youngest-ever recipient.
TV personality and GUBA founder Dentaa remarked: “Hopefully, GUBA will be part of the process that will contribute to making change; as events like GUBA will put Ghana and Africa in the spotlight for all the right reasons, attracting investment and drawing awareness to young Ghanaian rising stars and entrepreneurs in the community”.
