Van Vicker Sets For New Record

Celebrated Ghanaian actor Van Vicker is taking his career to the next level with the shoot of a new movie with working title, ‘Distance’.
The movie, being produced and directed by Van himself under his Sky Orange Production, features some of the best actors from Ghana and Nigeria.
He would be using Kofi Adjorlolo as one of the lead casts, as well as himself. ‘Distance’ will be the third movie from the stables of Sky Orange after ‘Friday Night’ and ‘Raj’.
Van said he would be shooting another movie in November and hopefully more next year.
“I want to debunk the whole idea that I don’t work in Ghana,” he told NEWS-ONE a couple of weeks ago at the Golden Tulip hotel.
The synopsis of the new movie is yet to be made public but the story, Van emphasized, was very intriguing.
Van has not only  become a household name but  one of Ghana’s most talked-about male movie stars, whose daring approach to acting helped the country’s movie industry.
Even though he started out in the entertainment world on radio and as a television personality for Metropolitan Television (Metro TV), it was not until 2003 that he carved a niche for himself through his appearance in the Ghanaian television series ‘Suncity’.
The series ran for a total of 10 episodes, and soon Van was cast in his first film ‘Divine Love’ as a supporting actor. The movie exposed him more to the industry. Thereafter he has been consistently cast in leading romantic roles.
As Africa’s undisputed romantic leading man, Van has helped turn the Ghanaian movie industry into a fierce competitor in the world of African movies.
So far, he has starred in top movies including ‘Beyoncé’, ‘The President's Daughter’ (2006) ‘Keeping the Promise’, ‘Mummy's Daughter’ (2006) ‘The Return of Beyoncé’ (2007) and ‘A Woman's Honor’.
He has also won a number of awards including, Best Male Actor 2006 - GMA (competitive) Ghana at 50, Best Male Actor 2007 Ohio (honoree) and Screen Nation Film and TV Awards, UK (competitive). He also got nominated for Best Lead Actor and Best Upcoming Actor at the 2008 Africa Movie Academy Awards held in Nigeria.
