Reports say Ghana actress Lydia Forson has missed an opportunity to act in a movie with Nigerian top actor Sam Loco.
The bubbly actress would have made her debut appearance in her second Nigerian movie titled ‘Phone Swap’ with Sam Loco, this month. But the production has been put on hold as result of the actor cum comedian’s death.
Sam Loco Efeeimwonkiyeke, 66, died last Sunday morning while on a movie set. While online reports said he died at a hotel in Owerri, NEWS-ONE sources in Nigeria say Sam Loco actually died in Lagos state.
Our source revealed Sam Loco had been ill for some months and that he got weaker on set and eventually died.
The exact cause of sickness has not been officially stated and his family is yet to issue an official statement on his death. Until recently, Sam Loco was reported to be a lover of the bottle and smoked as if he was on a suicide mission.
The new movie which Sam Loco was expected to have acted in with Lydia was to be directed by African Movie Academy awards (AMAA) multiple award winner, Kunle Afolayan, the director of hit movie ‘The Figurine’.
Unconfirmed reports say Kunle’s casting team presented names of Desmond Elliot, Saheed Balogun, Joseph Benjamin, Jim Iyke and Nse Ikpe Etim as some of the big Nollywood names penned to appear in the movie with Sam Loco.
Lydia was supposed to fly from Accra on Monday to Nigeria for the production. But she had to postpone the trip because the production was put on hold to mourn Sam and also find a replacement for Sam’s role.
Lydia was reportedly saddened by Loco’s death as she had anticipated acting with him. Close sources say she is Sam Loco’s fan and she is always fascinated by the dead actor’s sense of humour.
