Patience Ozokwor Congratulates Ghana Movie Awards

Nollywood top actress Patience Ozokwor was over the weekend in Accra to pick her statuette for winning Best Actress in an African Collaboration at the 2012 Ghana Movie Awards.
“Thank you,” she said after receiving her gold plated statuette on Friday evening at the rLG office at Osu, Accra where the Ghana Movie Awards statuettes were unveiled.
The trophies for the winners of the awards ceremony were not ready at the time the award ceremony was organized.
Organizers explained that the trophies were impounded in Dubai by immigration officials. But they finally arrived weeks ago; hence the unveiling ceremony which attracted some winners who came for their trophies.
Funny Face, Rahim Banda, and Afia Schwarzenegger (Nana Hemaa), who won Best Actor in a TV series, Best Actor in a Supporting Role English Language and Best Actress in a TV series respectively, picked up their statuettes. Bisa, winner of Best Original Soundtrack for ‘Azonto Ghost’, also picked up his statuette.

Successful Nollywood producer and director Andy Boyo received the statuettes for his compatriots, Alex Usifo, Desmond Elliot and Caroline Danjuma who won the following awards; Best Actor African Collaboration for the movie ‘Off The Hook’, Best Actress African Collaboration with ‘Untamed’ and Best Picture African Collaboration from the movie ‘In The Cupboard.’
He also received the award for veteran Olu Jacobs who won the Lifetime Achievement award for his contribution to the Nollywood and African film industry.

Speaking at the ceremony, David Dontoh revealed that the 2013 Ghana Movie Awards Academy would be made up of a jury and previous winners.
He said they were putting measures in place to improve upon the previous years’ organizations.
