Bandana |
Nominations were
released Saturday June 8 for the award ceremony which is scheduled for
July.
But ahead of
nominations, Bandana had on June 2 announced on social network twitter that he
was not part of the award.
His tweet said, “I pulled out from the Bass
Awards personally because I don't need it. My fans should not be
deceived.SM4LYF.”
Obviously what
he was trying to say was that his intellectual property should not be entered
in any of the categories of the awards.
But it was yet
to be confirmed if he would set foot at the award ceremony at all or possibly
perform if he was contacted to do so.
However his
manager Rude Boy Sterling currently takes part in decision-making for the award
ceremony which is to bring down Jamaican icon Elephant Man.
Questions are being
raised as to why he is still on the committee if his artiste has pulled out.
While some argue
that he should go, others think that he should be maintained on the committee,
since it might be Bandana’s personal decision to pull out of the award.
Bandana’s latest
action follows his recent outburst during 2013 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
He
descended heavily on Charter House, organizers of the annual Ghana Music Awards,
accusing the outfit of illegally giving the Reggae Dance Hall Song of the Year
award to Kaakie
Just
a few minutes after Kaakie was announced winner of that category which also had
Bandana, Blakk Rasta, Eazzy, Knii Lante and Samini as contenders, the artiste
popularly known for the hit song Bandana From Ghana, took to social
media platform, Twitter, to vent his anger on the organizers.
Bandana
did not spare Kaakie, who walked away with two awards on the night. He said:
“F**k khakie who (can't) even write her own music...I know how they did
this...but trus mi we kno how to handle dis.”
On May 22
Bandana tweeted, “I apologise if my diss to kaakie has worried some women
across da nation. I did it for a reason.”
