On Saturday, Rackus Productions which is organizing
the awards in collaboration Bullhaus Entertainment and Solid Multimedia
released nominations.
But Samini’s hot songs, ‘Body Flame’ featuring Kaakie and ‘Papistic’, were conspicuously missing in the nominations.
Sources said the songs were taken out due to its lyrical
content, which was described as “profane”.
Sources close to the organizers told NEWS-ONE
that Samini did not take the development kindly.
He had almost pulled out of the award after a
confidant notified him that the songs were disqualified on grounds of “profanity”.
It however took the invention of organizers to explain
issues to him to before he was calmed down.
“He was pulling out of the award but they had to
explain issues to him before he decided to let things go,” the source added.
Meanwhile, the Dagaati crooner got some nomination
with his songs including ‘Time Bomb’
featuring Wizkid, ‘Dadiekye’ and ‘Climax’, which he was featured on by
Stonebwoy.
He also got nominations for Kwame Nkrumah Award (Artiste Of The Year(s), Best Performer
(Reggae/Dancehall, Best Dancehall Artiste And
Music Video Of The Year(s) – Dancehall categories.
The 2013 Bass Awards will come off at the National Theatre
in Accra on July 6, 2013, where African Dancehall and Reggae artistes who have
done exceptionally well between 2010 and 2012 will be awarded.
This will be preceded by a nominees jam at the Accra
Sports Stadium on July 5, 2013, with performances from artistes including
Samini, Stonebwoy, Kaakie and Jupiter.
If Samini had pulled out of the event that would have
been a second blow to the award ceremony after Bandana had earlier announced
his exit even before nominations came out.
