Actress Kafui Dzivenu Celebrates With Outreach Programme

Kafui Dzivenu

Ghanaian actress Kafui Dzivenu on May 25, marked her birthday in a grand style with a remarkable outreach programme dubbed, ‘The Bridge’ for children and their parents at Mamprobi Kingsway City Chapel in Accra.
The event was to bridge the gap between children and their parents or guardians.
“The Bridge is a community event that brings families together. In going round some communities to shoot movies I noticed there is a gap between parents, children and guardians for one reason or the other making children drop out of school and taking to the street. The Bridge goes to the deprived communities to find out what brings gaps in homes and we stage a drama on the common problem and then a resource person speaks to the people in the community. Questions are answered by our resource person and then gifts are presented to the people in the community. The team does follower ups after the event to make sure broken homes are really put together,” Kafui told NEWS-ONE yesterday.
The Bridge is put together by Blema Foundation and sponsored by cowbell and supported by pen and plastic as well as Nyankonton productions and Mynegy School.
The May 25 event was attended by a large number of children, parents and guardians. Rev Godfred Kyereme spoke on the physiological effects children have when they are sacked home from school while Akosua Abdella spoke on parents making their children’s school fees their priority. She added that it was the right of every child to be in school.
A drama was staged about a mother who used her children’s school fees to buy expensive funeral cloths. This phenomenon happened to be a common problem in the community the event was held.
The programme is one of Kafui’s supported events to give back to society.
Kafui is a producer and an actress. She has produced a number of movies in the past and directed a good number of them for Danfo BA Productions and Socrate Sarfo’s Movie Africa Productions. She has also written a good number of scripts for some movies. She penned scripts for movies like ‘Sakawa Girls’, ‘Sika Nti’, The Mask, ‘Gold Mask’, ‘Agyenkwa’, and ‘Boshebo’.
She also wrote the script for the one time talked-about ‘Kyeiwaa’ movies; from part 3 to 11.
Kafui’s movie career began on stage with David Dontoh’s Kozikozi Drama Group. She moved to Vision Theatre, and then went on from there to TV series ‘Small World’ and since then she has never looked back.
