The
late Zack, according to group members, died in a road accident while traveling
to Kumasi after the group’s performance in Swedru.
“We
really miss him and may his soul rest in peace. We love him and miss him. It is
not easy surviving as a group without him but we are taking it cool. Life must
go on.
“His death has
taken something out of the group; not just for the fact that he was our leader,
but also he was hard working. It has been a stressful experience coming back on
the music scene without him after a longtime,” they told NEWS-ONE
in an exclusive interview.
Asumafuo
is currently made up of Famous (Andrews Frimpong) and Lover (Selassie Owusu).
The
group started sometime in the year 2000 as a trio, and made its official
release in 2005 with the album, ‘Mina.”
The
title track ‘Mina’ became an instant
hit and enjoyed massive airplay.
Two
years later, the group relocated to Jamaica and spent close to two years there.
But unfortunately, their leader passed on.
Now
Andrews and Selassie are ready to conquer the industry. The group has released
its latest single, Trotobento. It is
gradually picking up on radio networks and its video is making serious impact
on TV networks.
Trotobento comes on the
heels of an upcoming album as the group is currently in the studio.
According to the duo, Trotobento is a signal to music fans that Asumafuo is back.
“We
want Ghanaians to know Asumafuo is not dead. Though our leader is gone. We are
back.”
The
group believes that it has prepared enough to enable it stay in the game.
