Yvonne Okoro, Lydia Forson, Ama K To Spice Up AMAA Awards

Unofficial reports placed three strong Ghanaian actresses, Yvonne Okoro, Lydia Forson and Ama K. Abebrese among faces to look out for at this year’s African Movie Academy Awards in Nigeria.
The award ceremony which is aimed at celebrating talent in Africa’s film industry is scheduled to take place on April 20 at Bayelsa.
It is now eight days more to the final countdown on who wins what.
It is obvious that Yvonne Okoro will be at the award since her first produced movie, The Contract directed by Shirley Frimpong Manso got multiple nominations.

She is currently Ghana’s only hope for the acting aspect of the movie industry. With her role in The Contract, she is competing with Florence Masebe (‘Elelwani’), Mariam Ouedraogo (‘Moi Zaphira’), Rita Dominic (‘The Meeting’), Mbutung Seikeh (‘Ninah’s Diary’) and Flora Suya (‘Last Fishing Boat’).

Shirley is likely to make her first appearance at the AMAAs, years after her movies picked an award at the ceremony, which is described as Africa’s Oscars.
Lydia Forson is an AMAA winner and she had played other influential roles in organizing the show. She was in Malawi for the nomination party and there are obvious indications that she will be making a special appearance at the ceremony.
Ama K. Abebrese, according to reports, would be hosting this year’s AMAA with actress Dakore Egbuson and Comedian AY.
Other stars from Ghana are likely to grace the AMAA red carpet this year.
