Lydia Forson |
Bubbly
actress Lydia Forson is likely to spend more weeks in Sierra Leone, where she
has been shooting a movie since last month.
There
are reports of natural occurrences like rains in Sierra Leone which have compelled
production to halt for weeks.
The
Ghanaian actress and other actors from across Africa are waiting to complete
shooting at the right time.
Lydia
Forson arrived in Sierra Leone for the first time for the movie on Sunday, July
15.
Her
arrival in Sierra Leone was greeted with
a lot of enthusiasm as she made front
pages of some top newspapers.
When
President John Evans Atta Mills died, she was invited by the Ghana High
Commission in Sierra Leone to sign the book of condolence for the late
president. Subsequently, she read a tribute at the funeral of the late
president in Sierra Leone, which was attended by top diplomats.
Lydia
remains a remarkable actress to have come out of Ghana. She has passion for
what she does on the screens. In recent times, she has been travelling out of
Ghana for different projects. She is the first Ghanaian actress to present an
award at the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), described as Africa’s Oscars.
At
the last AMAA, she went as a special guest. The bubbly actress presented an
award for Best Young/Upcoming Actor to Nigeria’s Ivie Okujaye who won for her
role in the movie ‘Alero’s Symphony’. Lydia raised the flag of Ghana high on
stage that night.
Her
first AMAA appearance was in 2009 when she was nominated for Promising Actress
of the Year. In 2010, she went as a nominee and returned to Ghana as a
co-winner of Best Actress In Leading Role for her performance in ‘Perfect
Picture’ by Sparrow Production.
