The latest artiste on Ghana’s dancehall scene is a unique, talented upcoming musician Jahlead, who has won the hearts of those who have listened to his music.
Jahlead, real name Essel Kojo Ackom, is a graduate of University of Cape Coast. He majored in African Studies.
His versatility, humility and talent has over the years earned him several accolades as an underground act and has been approached by some producers, record labels and music enthusiasts to explore the high life arena due to his silky singing voice, and forget dancehall.
His good songs like ‘Asa’, ‘GH Hustle’ and ‘Mother Cry’ always held people spellbound, as they kept wondering why such a talent was not exposed to the scene.
But the creative composer and lyricist emphatically stated he gradually wanted to land a deal which would distribute his records worldwide and build him into an international brand.
Jahlead collaborated with top Ghanaian icons as Ofori Amponsah, Kofi B, Dunsin and Guru on previous albums. Currently, he is working very hard in the studios to add up to his existing 20 tracks comprising highlife, hip life, hip pop and dancehall.
“I would like to work with Amakye Dede, Rocky Dawuni, Kwabena Kwabena and Stonebouy on my maiden album and if possible collaborate with Movado, Damain Marley, Pressure and Jah-vinchi with beats produced by Frost and Don Kallion," he disclosed in an interview.
His hit singles, ‘She Wants Me’ and ‘Akokor Antwiwaa’ are blazing the airwaves and ranked number one in Kumasi and Takoradi. Preparations are underway to promote them in Accra with a banging music video.
He has performed on several high-profile shows with his exceptional stage work which keeps music lovers on their feet.
