After a thrilling evening of catwalk, dance steps
and music performances, 19-year-old Adzie Janet Afi was the female model who
won the heart of the judges, hence becoming the female winner of the first
edition of season two of the Exopa New Faces contest.
The ceremony as usual took place at the Exopa Burg
behind the International Trad
e Fair Centre last Saturday. It attracted an
encouraging number of modeling and fashion enthusiasts. Also, beautiful designs
from some of Ghana’s acclaimed designers were on display.
Janet beat 14 other female models to emerge winner while
21-year-old student of NIIT, Philomena Ocloo, and Rebecca Amihere, a
22-year-old student of Ghana Christian University College, placed second and third respectively.
Season two returned with the male models’ segment of
the contest, which added some glitz and glamour to the show.
Nineteen-year-old Odey Ibrahim Peter, a student of
Radford University College, was crowned winner in the male category.
Close behind him were Nathaniel Kwesi Aguiar, a
student of IPMC, Takoradi, and Olubode Oluwamuyiwa Eyimofe, who placed second
and third respectively.
The show was indeed exciting except for a mix-up of
numbers of the contestants which caused a break for a few minutes. The show
resumed after the necessary corrections were made.
There were also musical performances by some
upcoming Ghanaian musicians. Some changes were made to the show such that a
segment was created for contestants to display their talent. Some contestants
gave speeches, and others danced, cracked jokes and sang.
The winners have a contract with the Exopa Modelling
Agency and other juicy packages including cover page articles in NEWS-ONE and
spotlight exposure on Metro TV’s Allo TiGo.
The event will continue every last Saturday of the
month at the Exopa Burg where the event always takes place. The show is
expected to be more exciting in the coming months.
