Demarco |
Jamaican
reggae musician Demarco touched down at Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport,
yesterday Thursday July 5, ahead of his much anticipated ‘I Love My Life’ Concert on Saturday July 7.
The
‘I Love My Life’ Concert, being
organized by Phamous People and LCA
Ghana, was previously scheduled for Sunday, July 1 but it was postponed as the headliner,
Demarco, could not make it to Ghana before Sunday.
At
a press conference on Sunday evening, organizers blamed Demarco’s failure to
make it to Ghana on the difficulties in flight connection from Miami to Ghana
after leaving Jamaica.
Organisers
have since apologized for not staging the show on Sunday. On Saturday, the show
will come off live at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre.
Hundreds
of music enthusiasts are expected to troop to the venue to watch Demarco on
stage in Ghana for the first time.
He
arrived in Ghana yesterday at about 12:30 pm and was welcomed by Ghanaian dancehall
icon Andrew Samini, who is well known for his great stage works.
Demarco
has a day to prepare for the anticipated big night alongside interviews and
other promotional works ahead of the concert.
Reports said organisers had lost
huge sums of money as a result of the postponement. Tickets already sold for
the previous date are still valid though. But a lot went into printing new
posters and other form commercials.
Among the Ghanaian artistes expected to rock the
stage with Demarco are Rex Omar and Kwabena Kwabena, Tinny, Asem, Edem, Eazzy,
Kaki, Tinny, Jupiter, Nsemkwa (Yaa Pono), Myron A.K. A top Nigerian music star
will be announced as the surprise act on the night, with Abeiku Santana of Okay
FM as the MC.
